  • Dr Dahesh as a Student

I have gottent the impression that Dr Dahesh, while a remarkable person in his own right, was a student of many things. There were a couple of areas I wondered whether he investigated. One was the Essenes. Another was the Rosicrucians. Mario, what do you know of possible cults or true holy orders that he may have either debunked or investigated?

Alas, I do not have access to any information pertaining to either the Essenes or the Rosicrucians.

I think the Druze and some other Ismaili-Shi'a sects may be a good proxy for where Dr. Dahesh was coming from. The Ismaili angeology that also happens to make for a decent 19th century Mormon speculative cosmology and a Daheshist cosmology is definitely there, even if the details differ a bit.

The place of Ali needs a lot more definition, I think. A case can made for his mention throughout the Bible for example, and within Shi'a Islam Ali keeps popping in various kinds of triads.

There may have been some Sufi orders that have parallel concepts to Daheshism, but I wouldn't know what those are. From the Mormon end of things the Bektashi-Alevi Sufi sect in Turkey and the Balkans is exceedingly interesting on a number of grounds. They're kind of like a happy medium between Mormonism and Baha'iism or Mormonism and Shia Islam. Organized about the same as the Mormons in fact!
