A Great Day, it was....

Dear Fellow Daheshists... most compelled to share this with you, I am!

Being a member of the N W Ohio Multi-Faith Group for close to 10 years, & participating in many of their events, today I donated blood at the annual drive.
Questioned as to my faith affiliation, I answered "Daheshist". My Red Cross name tag boldly depicting the name Jules-Daheshist.
What an ice-breaker it turned out to be!
Well,to say that it did not go un-noticed, would be an understatement!
As I was on the cot, during the donation process, three different people came to talk and find out about Daheshism.
Of course I'm always delighted to introduce our Beloved Prophet to anyone with interest.
Bottom line, I'm sending out three more copies of Mounir Murad's book "Daheshism and the Journey of Life" in Monday's mail. Great day!

That's wonderful news, indeed! Your intentions and actions are to be commended.

There is one minor issue to bring up, however:

Do you agree to the following blanket statement that "Churches, mosques, synagogues, and other so-called 'houses of prayer' are not true to the religions they claim to represent"?

As a Daheshist, I could never be so arrogant as to condemn ALL Churches, mosques, synagogues and other so-called houses of prayer, without knowing them individually, an awesome task.

I've met thousands of Daheshists, the vast majority, simply don't know that they are Daheshists, yet!

First, I appreciate your giving this matter your utmost attention, especially that you might have to address the matter.

Second, what we have here are two independent clauses joined by a connector. So, I assure you, my omitting the second clause following "and" does not alter the meaning of the first clause in any way, nor does it place it out of context. While many expensive lawsuits were decided on the placement, or misplacement of the humble comma, here, the comma doesn't even have any bearing except for the fact that — grammatically-speaking — it has to be there in order to connect the two (once again) independent clauses.


The first clause simply states, "Churches, Mosques, and "Churches, mosques, synagogues, and other so-called 'houses of prayer' are not true to the religions they claim to represent"

It doesn't say, "some churches..." or "many churches..." or, "99.99% of churches..."

As a Daheshist, I could never be so arrogant as to condemn ALL Churches, mosques, synagogues and other so-called houses of prayer, without knowing them individually, an awesome task.

I've met thousands of Daheshists, the vast majority, simply don't know that they are Daheshists, yet!

I am glad. Just remember the prime directive of a Daheshist, from Doctor Dahesh HIMSELF, that I have seen written in his own handwriting (witnessed by several other Daheshists the Doctor trusted with his life): a Daheshist cannot proselytize nor coarse . Now, I am sure we can debate the meaning of both verbs. My job, and to fulfill my mandate, which is to DEFEND Daheshism (as per a Spiritual Letter), I must remind everyone of these words.

Great. So, based on what you are writing, it is clear that — in your mind — not all houses of worship are untrue. The question that remains is the following: how clear is that, to the masses, in the first independent clause of that sentence? Just something to keep in mind.

And, dear Jules, remember your commentary about Joseph Chakkour's book? Remember how disappointed you were in the ending?

Well, I must say, this is most difficult to relate.



While 'Reflections On My Life, Before and After Doctor Dahesh" was a most interesting read, I came away with a huge disappointment and sadness.

My sadness is for the ending!

It would seem that author, Joseph Henri Chakkour, a very good writer and wonderful storyteller finds himself smack dab in the middle of a world full of huge ego, suspicion and paranoia...mainly of his own making.



It would seem, also, that the more connected he became to beloved prophet, Dr. Dahesh...the more he floundered, in the world he was given unto.

Joesph Henri Chakkour discovered a lack of compassion, maybe even unbridled greed deep within himself.



Was it too much to expect, a charitable, more forgiving and more humane person to come forward as a result being with our beloved Dahesh?



The author, found himself unhappy and unfulfilled on this planet of exile, just had Dr. Dahesh did.



Such the pity!

You see, this is the sort of thing that can potentially happen when one self-publishes without the benefit of an editor (or editors) that keep(s) one in check, and on track.

One more important point: note the scare quotes around "house of prayer" in the original statement.

Dear Jules, look at the sentence again:

Churches, Mosques, Synagogues, and other so-called "houses of prayer" are not true to the religions they claim to represent, and many of them are run by deceitful and evil people.

As shown, the quotes around "houses of prayer" imply that Churches, Mosques, Synagogues are anything but houses of prayer...

Also, the use of the present simple tense of To Be (... are) implies certainty. We use the present simple when describing a fact, a habit, or recurring action. This sentence is saying that Churches, Mosques, Synagogues, and other so-called "houses of prayer" are not true to the religions they claim to represent, and many of them are run by deceitful and evil people.

First, thank you. But there is nothing in what you are posting that warrants such drastic measures. In fact, in all the years Daheshville has been online, no post has ever been removed (corrected, maybe... but never removed) by any moderator or the Administrator.

Second, this is a platform for discourse. We may never always agree, and that's OK.

Today, as we celebrate Independence Day, it is so fitting that this prayer, from The Christophers,
serve as a reminder of our hopes, dreams and mission before us.

July 4
A Prayer for the Nation.

Ours is a nation of many believers in God—or at least a Supreme Being.
Yet how often do we ask our God to watch over us?
This prayer will help us think about God and His people:

God of liberty, we acknowledge Your reign.
For the freedom of our land, for the rights we possess, for the security of our laws, we praise You and thank You.
Give guidance to our leaders, watch over those who serve their country, raise up the poor, and exalt the humble.
Make our nation great and strong, renowned in wisdom, prosperous in virtue, and renewed in faith.
Destroy all signs of division: take away hatred and violence; fill us with Your peace. Make us one people, united in praising You. Amen.

The Lord said… “I will make of you a great nation, and
I will bless you.” (Genesis 12:1,2)

Father in Heaven and Creator of All, guide our country in
establishing love, peace, justice, and mercy among all
