    Hello,

I just wanted to briefly introduce myself. In actual fact, I cyber-met Mario a few years ago, but I lost contact with him.

I suppose I looked up "Dr Dahesh" again for a number of reasons, but the foremost being that I want to know more about my family tree.

I grew up hearing about Dr Dahesh - it was a bit of a fantastic, mystical fairy story for a young child. An uncle that was a magician. I don't know if i really believed the stories.

As a teenager, I met his sister. My beautiful great-grandmother who was worth more than her weight in gold. I also met her children, one who has an UNCANNY resemblence to Dr Dahesh (his nephew actually). I was told even more fanciful stories, but again, as a young teenager, laughed off my aunts recollections of levitations and thought my dear great-grandmother was losing her marbles. I wish I could have those moments back with her.

Anyway, jumping forward, a group of Daheshists in Sydney in the mid-90's, in a very bizarre way, became acquainted with my sister and, I'm not sure of the detail, sensed something from her. When they became aware of her connection to Dr Dahesh, it was very overwhelming. I think they gave her a copy of TIME or LIFE magazine with articles of him inside. I must say at this time, we all had no idea there was such a big Daheshist movement,

I have always been interested in my family tree and have always been very curious about Dr Dahesh.

So, this is why I have joined this group and will enjoy reading all of your posts and bits of information.

    Thank you and Peace.

Hi Honey, and welcome to Daheshville... I'm glad you found us.

Thank you for sharing some of your memories of Dr. Dahesh... it is much enjoyed and appreciated. Feel free to look around the place, ask questions, engage... or whatever suites you.

As other experiences come to mind, please share them. Are you still in contact with other Daheshists in the Sydney area?

    All the best to you.

    David

      Hi David..

      Thanks for the warm welcome.
I sat up last night reading some of the info on this site - and to be quite frank, it is quite mind boggling! However, I mean NO disrespect.
I woke up this morning with a question, and I'm not sure if you can answer it, but here I go. Do you know if Dr Dahesh had a tattoo on the inside of his wrist?

Also, do you know any connection between Dr Dahesh and the Great Houdini? I was told a story many years ago, but do not want to post it as it may be VERY wrong.

As for Sydney Daheshists, I actually never met any, it was my sister who met a few. No on in my immediate or extended family (Australia, Jordan and Palestine) are Daheshists to my knowledge. However, I'm hoping to contact my favourite uncle in great-Jordan (Dahesh's nephew) who I admire and ask him some questions.

My Great-Grandmother (Dahesh's sister), recalled many tales of her childhood. Do you know much about their "escape" from "between the two rivers?" In Arabic, she would repeatedly insist she was from "Bein il Nahrein" and about her Assyrian heritage. I'm guessing she was talking about an area around modern day Iraq.

Thanks. A lot of good people have helped to make this place what it is.

To my knowledge, I do not ever recall any of the Daheshists that I have met over the years make mention of this. There are others here that can chime in more definitively on this, but to my knowledge, no.

I am not sure what you are referring to by "connection". I am guessing that you are not asking if they ever met... Houdini (Erik Weiss) died around the time Dr. Dahesh was 14 years old... so I am assuming you are drawing other parallels here? Please clarify...

Without coming to conclusions on my own of what you are asking... I will go ahead and state that I don't see much connection between Dr. Dahesh, a prophet of God and Harry Houdini, a very clever, famous illusionist. I do know that over the years, many had attributed Dr. Dahesh's divine miracles to some sort of "witchcraft" or "magic" or some similar such thing.

Dr. Dahesh's miracles were mandated and allowed by the Divine Order of God... Houdini's illusions... were just that, albeit very clever ones.

I am sure, in certain hushed circles, even to this day, there are still "rumors" of the great "mystic" Dr. Dahesh... that he "channelled" the powers of the "Great" Houdini... I don't know... is this what you are referring to?

Please share with us any stories you have... all of these stories should be documented and accounted for somewhere... There are generations of Daheshists from the early days that are getting older... It would be a shame if their stories or any of their recollections are lost because someone never got around to asking them about their lives...

In light of this... I would encourage you to follow your feelings and do what you feel is best. If there are any stories you would like to relay and share with us here... we could set up a little section for you.

        Thanks for reading in...

        All the best,
        David

          Hi david,

I'm sorry for not being more clear about my Houdini question, I really don't mean to offend and I did not mean for you to think that I compared illusion with miracles. My question was actually a more straight-forward one. I had heard that the two had met - but i wasn't clear on the details...I think it was one of Dr Dahesh's "personailities". Again, this is probably fokelore.

          Maybe I should explain further.

You see, in our family NO-ONE really knows anything at all about Dr Dahesh except for a few small details. Most of the stories, I fear, are exagerated or misinterpreted and have been changed over the years. So, my mother grew up hearing snippets, from snippets and passed these on to us. It is as if the legend replaced the man. Other aunts in my family were told he owned an 'island' somewhere in the Carribbean where Daheshists lived in a type of Utopia! So you see, this is why I am out to seek the truth.

From my point of view, it is quite awe-inspiring to find out that there are people likeyourselves here in Daheshville who are so devoted and who loved him so much.

Please bear with me as I may ask some uncomfortable questions, but again, I don't ever mean to offend. I live by the rule of respect for ALL people, respect for their beliefs and their religious freedom.

The reason I asked about the tattoo was because my great-grandmother had the year of her birth tattooed on the inside of her wrist. I can not recall which wrist, but she did categorically tell me that all her siblings had the year of their birth tattoed on their wrists. Now, she was born in 1901 or 1903. Maybe by the time Dr Dahesh was born, they stopped this custom?

Thank you for your response... I truly felt you were asking genuine questions and as such, tried to offer genuine answers. One one expresses a genuine interest, NO ONE here takes any offense to ANY questions that anyone asks. We are all learning and trying to openly and honestly discuss everything that comes our way.

We have dealt with many, many issues and questions here over the past two years of being here online in Daheshville. If we all come together as honest, open people to search to find what is really true and accurate information about the legacy of Dr. Dahesh... then there really are no questions that are too out of bounds to deal with.

It is 11:00 pm or so here on the east coast of the U.S. ... possibly tomorrow Mario can chime in about the tattoo issue...

I am sure in your family, as you said, there indeed were many bits of information that have been passed around and passed down. Thank you for being so honest and open about your search... i trust you will find some kindred spirits here in your quest and journey for truth...

            Have a good night.

            David

I think relative to this piece of information, short of hearing otherwise from Mario, I would have to say that no, Dr. Dahesh did not have the date of his birth tattooed on his wrist. The reason I say this, is a few months back, Mario had done some research on the actual birth date of Dr. Dahesh, and found notes from the day of Dr. Dahesh's embalming (which he was in attendance of) and "1912" was noted as a correction to what I understood as being previously believed to be "1909".

I think if there was such a tattoo on Dr. Daheh's wrist, Mario certainly would have known about it and mentioned it.

So it appears, that though your great grandmother may have had this done, it appears (for the moment anyway) that Dr. Dahesh did not.

I hope this helps fill in some pieces.

Indeed I remember that Mario once told me that The Doctor had a small tattoo inside his wrist, and my father confirmed me this fact.

Everyone in those time had tattoos, that was like a procedure of census report... my great-grandmother had several tatoos due to the fact that she went from one country to another ...

                  For clarification: http://www.daheshville.com/forum/sho...42&postcount=1

For the record, the "1912" date first appeared on the day of the funeral and not the embalming. Furthermore, this is still an unsolved mystery. It could be that the records said "1912" by mistake... or, it might have been done on purpose... we might never know...

Well, I am glad that this question was asked... Thank you, Sandrine for setting the record straight and confirming this.

                      Hello cousin!

It would be nice to get in touch since I am also related to Dr Dahesh through his mother. I'm always interested to get to know more about my family, but it's so hard to get information from my Middle Eastern side especially.

If you read this, send a message and I'll reply!

                      Best regards!
