We are the 6th of June 2006 ... and we know that fasting on the 6th and 20th has a specific meaning for daheshists ... Can you please explain to those who don't know this ritual: Why those days, how it began, how to do it ?

    Thank you so much ...

I'll give me my perspective on the matter. It must have been circa 1986 that my brother informed me via a telephone conversation that Daheshists have been instructed to fast on the 6th and 20th of each month. At the time, it was 24 hours straight...6 A.M. to 6 A.M. so, no food, no water for a straight 24 hours. And, of course, no complaining about it either and there certainly needs to be a mental (let's call it that) "immersion" since thoughts are key drivers that WILL alter the course of our spiritual fluids (as our "clock" ticks away until we are to leave this plane of existance) ... so, thought AND action determine our future—and I use that term loosely— since, in "reality" or rather, outside our sphere of existance (or what we sense as being "our reality") time does not exist...which means, really, all events, days, minutes, seconds, centuries, exist in a closed and perpetual loop... But I really digress! So, back to fasting... It WAS 24 hours. But then, it became 12 hours. From what I heard, many admitted that it was very tough to do, so the Beloved Guiding Prophet made it for 12 hours only: 6 A.M. to 6 P.M.

Now, here is something I heard from HIM personally: "If you are sick, do not fast." And one time, he offered me a piece of fruit during a Fast. I said "Thank you Doctor, I am fasting" he said "that's OK, you can fast another day." So, I am not sure if it means you can fast on the 21st if you inadvertantly broke your fast on the 20th... I don't think we can really know to a mathematical precision why exactly a Daheshist needs to fast (beyond that "its' good for us to do so"). Does he or she become easier to detect? Do we "glow" differently? (I am very serious!) Remember, to an outsider (as in, a being of a higher plane of existance) we must appear as "noise." In other words, we are (essentially) pure energy. What we feel as being "solid" is in fact made of ... nothing! To US, our reality looks and feels a certain way. But to a higher being, we must certainly "look" and "feel" differently. That is why, I THINK these rituals make us easier to spot (?) Plus, there has to be a physical benefit to fasting, even though science has not yet discovered it to the extent Dahesh knew about it (or, rather, as it was revealed to Him). Who knows how many secrets are hidden from Science. The Doctor told me that a Woman CAN HAVE A CHILD WITHOUT A MAN. In other words, she can create life from within her OWN BODY alone, but science has not yet discovered that aspect of a woman's body.

But to return to Fasting... From what I also heard (not from Dahesh himself) is that it is OK not to fast when traveling. Also, brushing our teeth is OK... Just don't CHEAT! (you don't want to swallow Fluoride anyway!)

Usually if i didn't fast on 6 or 20 i fast on 26 , it's the first time i hear that a person can fast on 21st if he missed the 20th or 7 if he miss 6

Actually Boxfox, I didn't say you can fast on the 21th if you miss the 20th.

All I said was that the Doctor said that I can fast on another day.
He didn't say which day. So, based on what he said, I could have fasted on the 21, 22...23... etc.

And, in my post, I was merely asking a question.

" So, I am not sure if it means you can fast on the 21st if you inadvertantly broke your fast on the 20th "

I think not unless we have clear instructions from Doctor Dahesh himself (and by that I mean something written) should we make it a golden rule.

Until such time I think it should be up to the individual. And here, let me tell you another story: a couple of days after the Doctor passed away, we were about 20 people in a meeting discussing what to do, what to say. One Daheshist suggested that we should make it a rule that, in April, we should fast 40 days in memory of the the 40 horrible days the Doctor endured in the hospital before passing away.

We all thought it was a bad idea because we didn't feel it was our place to begin inventing rituals that were not officially given to us by the Doctor.

Of course, if someone wants to fast 40 days... that's up to them. However, and here is another thought... The body is so adaptable that when you fast a couple of days, the next 38 will become easy... so easy that the fast loses (both) its meaning as well as it potential good it might do to the body (and I think fasting actually helps the body... in my opinion, of course).

        Thanks for writing.
