  • "Al-Muhannad Al-Batir" (The Sharp Sword)

Years ago, I saw this book in my brother's library. I picked it up (mainly because I was impressed with the cover) and I began flipping through its pages... the usual...I thought... until I came across a section that made me skip a heart beat!

Years later, I heard that it was no longer available for purchase... According to the Daheshist bookstore website, it is "out of stock." According to one source, that book was removed from circulation, as a deliberate act.

    Who should we believe...

In any case, I recommend it highly to any Daheshist...assuming a copy can be found...

    The ISBN is 0-935359-222

    Happy hunting!

    Reply highly appreciated

    Hi Mario

I didn't understand what an ISBN is?
Surely interested to read the book.

    Thank you

The ISBN is the international number assigned to the book title. The Borders Book company in the US lists the book as one they do not stock but will order. That's
      http://www.bordersstores.com/search/...rchType=Author .
They say it will take 1 to 6 weks to ship.

I think if you need to wait that long to order it you would probably be better off contacting the DAHESH Hertage Books at either (212) 265-0600 or (800) 799-6375. The second number is toll free within the US. They would probably order it for you on a credit card.

        Good Luck

I know it's been years (you know the brain can play tricks on you sometimes) and maybe I'm mistaken... but I am quite sure it was that one. And, once again, I was told by a close friend of a Daheshist who works INSIDE the Daheshist Publishing Company that this book was deliberately removed from circulation because "someone" found out "something" in there that the Doctor had written about them and subsequently removed the book from circulation. I don't know exactly when I heard it, but it had to be between 2002 and 2003.

If what I am saying is factual, then I doubt Dahesh Heritage will release it.

These are the front and back covers (I'm linking directly to the Dahesh Heritage bookstore... so no image is actually stored in Daheshville)

And here is the actual blurb... it says "out of stock"... They don't even mention the price...

            ====================================

            Volume Details
            The Sharp Sword
            (al-Muhannad al-Batir)

            Hardcover, Size 21x28.5 cm, 216pp.
            Year: 1992
            ISBN: 0-935359-222
            Price (USD): $out of stock

This book consists of 366 rhymed six-line stanzas, written by Dr. Dahesh in 1980, one stanza every day. The title of this book is the best indication of its content: a sharp sword in that it attempts neither to hide anything nor to flatter anyone. The author lays bare the truth about human life, its miseries, and its futility
He attacks the traitors and tyrants at whose hands he suffered severely. He also declares his support for truth, justice and virtue in an age where moral values have been seriously shaken. Those who are lovers of sheer truth will find the truth in this book without ornamentation or disguise. In fact, the author is so candid that he gives it the title The Sharp Sword.

              Mario:

Thanks for restating the complete explanation. I guess some of Dr. Dahesh's writing was very politically charged and frightening to his enemies.
