  • "Bubbles"

Here is a (somewhat faithful) translation of one of Doctor Dahesh's short essays. It is called "BUBBLES" and you can see it in "The Wanderer in the Life's Desert," on page 40. I still have to get some of the spelling of the names correctly... Also, if this does not prove that Daheshism IS political, I don't know what does... Well, I do have other pieces. Oh, and some of you might be offended that he mentioned some names. Just remember, what might be a tyrant to YOU, was (and still is) a "Great Leader" to others. Just keep that in mind please.

Please note also that the Doctor refers to BUDDHA as A PROPHET as well as GUIDE.
    "BUBBLES"

I retired by myself, and pondered the names of some upon whom—in our mortal world—has been bestowed the title of "The Greats."

There is Ramses to Nabukhadnasar, Napoleon Bonaparte, to Alexander the Great, to Darius the Persian, then Titus, then Augustus Caesar, then Genghis Khan, then Timorlanak, Holako, Hitler, Moussolini, Stalin, and and other big leaders and conquerors... All of these passed on our Planet Earth like a fleeting fog!

And I compare them to the air bubbles which rise one by one to the surface of the water for only a short time only to be exploded by the wind and so it disappears in an instant... and the same goes for the rest of the bubbles that explode and disappear, one after the other!

Why, but why did Alexander try to take over the world, and what benefit was he after even if he was able to rule over the whole planet?! Isn't his end Death, and Death the end of every living being?

And the same goes for the rest of his fellow conquerors.

And what if they were able to own Earth, and all that it has in it, as long as their fate is death and their existence is not erode!

Matter has hidden the truth from them, and their greed was a steel veil covering Truth who hid herself behind its horrific metal.

The memory of those whose name was entered in history as being great vanishes, and with it immediately disappears with it this false greatness, when the name of JESUS or MOHAMMAD or MOSES or BUDDHA is mentioned, those prophets and guides and founders of the Religions, who preached brotherhood.

No bullet to reap the souls, and no canons to tear the limbs so that the cries and the wails rise, and no military airplanes to transport men into the world of the ghosts... Instead, total love and kindness that is complete...

The Prophets, they alone are not bubbles, they are the Messengers of God who hears and listens.
    Their memory fills our world...
Those are the greats, and their spiritual greatness is everlasting and eternal. So let the bubbles be quiet after they and their greed is thrown on the ground, thus their dreams vanishing. And if History immortalizes their dreams that is only because it is the history of man whose thinking is limited.

Long Live the founder of the religions who lead man to faith which will allow him to bask in the gardens of paradise.

    Mario,

Thank you for your translation of such a Beautiful Text written by The Doctor ... HIS words are incredibly powerful !

And, if THAT is not A Lesson of humility for everybody ... Well, I wonder what can it be ?

I read this as 'the greats' meaning yes, historically significant, but in the same word, notorious, and thereby rendering themselves harmful to all of humanity and their time. The analogy to a bubble is really quite a wonderful image... they rise to the surface, inflate for a brief time, and then *POP*... as in burst in to nothingness... 'Their greed was a steel veil'...
