  • The Rightful Successor

While perusing Mounir Murad's site I located a page I assume he had compiled or written entitled "Who is the Rightful Successor of Dr Dahesh?". It did not conclude as I thought it might. It reflects upon what should take place after Dr Dahesh's death. Apparently, Dr Dahesh's expectations have not been met. http://www.daheshism.com/Who%20is%20...0Successor.pdf

Of interest to me would be clarification on when in Dr Dahesh's life, these expectations were written. It appears that they may been written many years before he died.

In the spirit of full disclosure I must tell you that I did NOT click on the link above because I am allergic to PDF's... and, not to worry, I am having this looked at by a professional.

Please run a search for "Organization" and you will find ample discussions about this matter.

Now, in terms of this issue of "Successor."

Firstly, the dictionary gives us the following definition for the verb "to succeed" (which is the root of "successor.") :

1 [ intrans. ] achieve what one aims or wants to : he succeeded in winning a pardon.
    • (of a plan, request, or undertaking) lead to the desired result : a mission which could not possibly succeed.
    2 [ trans. ] take over a throne,
inheritance, office, or other position from : he would succeed Hawke as prime minister.
    • [ intrans. ] become the new rightful holder of an inheritance, office, title, or property : he succeeded to his father's kingdom.
    • come after and take the place of : her embarrassment was succeeded by fear.

So, by that definition alone, the Zahid Family are the rightful and legal SUCCESSORS.

I mention this because the intro (on the web site) says the following:

After the departure of our Beloved Prophet from this world on April 9, 1984, many Daheshists and non-Daheshists alike, wondered about who is his rightful successor. Some Daheshists held the position that since Dr. Dahesh entrusted the copyrights to his books and his art and book collections to a prominent Daheshist family then the head of that family must be his rightful successor and subsequently her offspring. Unfortunately, such a deduction cannot be further away from the truth! Individuals with such reasoning cannot be blamed though, because they have no knowledge of the actual wishes and commands of our Beloved Prophet and those of the Divine Spirit.

Well, pfew! ... first, I am awash with gratitude that I am not to be blamed... Still, however, and LEGALLY speaking, Doctor Dahesh did more than just "ENTRUST"... he LEGALLY transferred his rights of ownership from HIMSELF to THEM.

So, like it or not, THEY own (for all we know) whatever revelation there might be regarding the matter and until THEY decide, we're all left to fend for ourselves.

But, who cares what I say... Let's instead revisit some "quotes" from letters sent by the office of Ghazi Brax to one individual who — in turn — sent them to me as well as use them as launching pads for his personal campaign to spread his version of Daheshism.

(I will spare you the trouble of having to read all the content — which is already published in Daheshville — so I'll just choose those specific paragraphs that are in reply to the specific question of ORGANIZATION):

In three separate letters to the same individual, we see the following three paragraphs. I've taken the liberty of highlighting in "bold" text some the key passages:

    MAY 14, 2006
I am advised to tell you that Dr. Brax does not possess the manuscripts and cannot order the translation or publication of the published books in any language, because their ownership and copyrights belong to a few Daheshists who were nominated in the Beloved Prophet's last Will for unknown reasons. Those nominated Daheshists, who legally own all the Daheshist institutions, still deem the time of organizing the Daheshists has not come.

    JULY 10, 2006
Dr. Dahesh gave some clues about that; however, the Trustees have their view in this issue, and a significant number of the Elders and great thinkers in Daheshism have their own view. In any case, the organization of Daheshism cannot be so far. The greater the number of American believers in Daheshism becomes, the closer the Daheshists become to be organized, because the Beloved Prophet wanted the United States to be the launching pad of Daheshim.

    AUGUST 9, 2006
Dr. Brax thanks you for the detailed plan you suggested to spread the new heavenly Mission and commends your expertise. However, the Beloved Prophet had an inspired vision about when and how Daheshism will be propagated throughout USA. Few Daheshists know about the details.

So, class, what sort of impression do we get when reading these three paragraphs written within a span of 4 months?

That being said, I recommend reading "The Letter that Shook the Daheshist World." It was written by an "Elder" who (in fact) has (like Brax) a Doctorate and has Co-authored a book with him.

I'll summarize it and grossly paraphrase it: "Yes 'so and so', we know you are the successors and we're not debating that, but we need to organize because that's what the Doctor WANTED!"

I bring this up just to mention that — at least around these here parts — we're on board with the idea of organization. In fact, ... WE are organized already. We might be small, but darn it, we were the ones to got rid of (so far, and knock on wood) of that "problem" which I need not re-mention, lest I wake up the sleeping dogs... But, we ARE organized in SPIRIT. We are a small group comprising MAINLY of AMERICANS (the real kind... in other words, those who were BORN in the USA).

But I know this is beside the point and that the issue (it seems) is the one pertaining to "who the successor is."
Well, someone should have a talk with Dr. Ghazi Brax about the matter. And I'll tell you why:

From what I heard form a highly reliable first-hand eyewitness : when he was in Beirut and the subject of organization came up (and with it, the whole issue of spreading Daheshism) he cited none other than "the successors" as the ones to decide when that will happen.

And speaking of not assigning blame... , who do we "not blame" when the omelet doesn't come out right:

The chicken, the egg, or the cook?
    "Fail, to succeed."
