  • Prayer Beads

In many pictures of Dr. Dahesh, I see him holding a string of prayer beads. What significance do they have to Dr. Dahesh and Daheshism?

I know they are used Buddhism and also in some Christian churches. I even saw a picture of Abdul Baha (from Baha'i) holding a string of prayer beads. Latter-Day Saints don't use prayer beads to pray which is why the concept is a bit foreign to me.

    Counting!

A little research and a light goes on:

It is for counting the number of prayer repetitions in many religions. I have trouble enough keeping track of saying a prayer six times, let alone 100 times!

Latter-Day Saints don't have any repeating prayers that I am aware of, hence the lack of prayer beads.

      Hi WingedPaladin,

I understand your question because when I was a young girl I often wondered why men were playing with these beautiful bracelets.

I have seen it in The Doctor’s hand when I was in Lebanon and quite every brother had also a prayer beads … in France, I've often seen Armenian friends of my father drinking coffee, smoking while "playing" with prayer beads.

In Lebanon and more generally in the oriental culture, it is often a relaxing pastime and it is more a man’s attitude. I have never seen a sister or a woman using it in daily life context … although I have seen Buddhist Nuns fingering prayer beads …<o></o><o></o>

When He was in our home, I remember that The Doctor used a prayer beads when we were all gathered around Him and simply talking … it was not a time for meditation or prayer but more a kind of convivial moment !

From what I have seen of The Doctor HE was a real Hard Worker !!!

I've never seen Him meditating for hours, chanting or reciting mantras, prostrated in prayers …

Thank you for your insights. I would imagine him to be a hard worker.

Also, thank you for teaching me a new word, "convivial - occupied with or fond of the pleasures of good company."

(This question is for anyone, not just Sandrine.)

Do you think it possible that he might be praying in his heart even when enjoying time with everyone hence the prayer beads or did they serve a different purpose all together?

The Doctor once asked my father to go to Germany because HE wanted to purchase some specific pearls made of semi-precious gems which would later be sent to jewellers who would create prayer beads for The Doctor …

The Doctor would probably offer these prayer beads as gifts to some of our brothers and destined some of them to be exposed, like the rest of his private collection, in The Museum of His Dreams …

And maybe did He keep some of them for his own personal use ! ... More than this ?... If The Doctor prayed with it ? ... GOD only Knows ...<o></o>

I know various gems have various energies (ie. amethysts have very high energy) and are used for spiritual healing and enlightenment purposes. I wonder if these prayer beads were actually energy recipes for what the Doctor or others were spiritually in need of to be more in tune with the Light of God.

                Hi Winged Paladin,

Indeed, when we are talking about The Doctor, every single thing has its reason … this particular gemstones had to be bought specifically in Germany and by my father …

Why? … Most probably a question of spiritual fluids … as always ...

But really WHY? … We will never know The Doctor’s reasons!

Anyway, The Doctor had always HIS own good reasons to ask certain things to be done in a certain way …

For example, when He lived with us in France <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 /><st1:country-region>for a while, HE kept some fruits in the room where He worked and ... they would remain for days directly on a piece of furniture made of wood.</st1:country-region>
                <st1:country-region></st1:country-region>
                <st1:country-region>My Mother really didn’t understand why? …</st1:country-region>
                <st1:country-region></st1:country-region>
<st1:country-region>And as you may imagine, she was more preoccupied by the damages that these ripening fruits - which little by little became rotten - would create on the wood surface …</st1:country-region>
                <st1:country-region></st1:country-region>
<st1:country-region>Now, she regrets those thoughts she had in the past, because she understands how fortunate she was to live in the same house with The Doctor … she realizes that everything else was of so little importance!</st1:country-region>
                <st1:country-region></st1:country-region>
<st1:country-region>We are only humans with a narrow understanding, limited capacities and terrestrial preoccupations ... That's just the way it is! … But we need time to evolve and My Mother – even if she still does not understand The Doctor’s reasons – now does regret her ridiculous worries for her piece of furniture!</st1:country-region>
                <st1:country-region></st1:country-region>
<st1:country-region>In fact, we can only guess or wonder what The Doctor’s motivations were … and these discussions are mainly for the pleasure of sharing our experiences because we will never be sure of anything … we’re only human beings!</st1:country-region>

A little precision though : It wasn't in The Doctor's habits to keep fruits until they get rotten ... He Loved Fruits ...

But this time ... maybe this was also my mother's test of patience ...

                    Our Apologies to the Readers!

Earlier today, Sandrine was informed that her posts were featuring far to many "" and that they were ... perhaps... inappropriate.

She was shocked to hear it, especially that she couldn't see them on her system.

The Administrator is on MAC, Sandrine is on PC.

Upon looking into the matter further, Sandrine explained that she composes her posts on MS WORD and drops them into the Daheshville message window. Reason: MS WORD has a spell check.

We figured that there might be a virus on her system. Also, we recommended that she creates her text on Daheshville, which also has a Spell Checker. Of course, that might not solve the problem if she still has the virus. So, we'll keep an eye out for any suspicious smilies! (no... we meant to use that one!)

Thank you and sorry for the interruption!

I’d like to say Thank you to the Administrator for repairing what just happened to my last posts where there were so many inappropriate smilies … Thank you for warning me about something I really did not intend to place …

I feel really embarrassed because I couldn’t see them on my system… and we had to establish a video conference call so that he would be able to point them out to me: That was unbelievable !<o></o>

                      Really Sorry !<o></o>

Hehe, and I just thought the smilies were Sandrine's cute way of expressing herself. Sandrine, thank you for all of the wonderful insights. Life really isn't all that it seems on the surface is it. The things the Doctor must have known! A very different paradigm from the rest of humanity, that's for sure.
